Britisher dies in road accident

A 37-year-old British national had reportedly died in a hit and run car accident and his body was found in Unawatuna yesterday morning, police media spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara said.

The victim Mark Paul Kagen was found dead on Galle road near 121km post in Unawatuna around 4.30am yesterday and the police believe that he had been hit by a speeding motorist who fled the scene.

According to police, the victim who had been married to a local woman was a father of two. He had migrated to Sri Lanka and had been living here for nine years, the police said.

The Habaraduwa police who are conducting inquiries are on the look for the absconding driver.
