COLOMBO, Sept 16 (Reuters) - An explosion struck a bus travelling through a residential area of the Sri Lankan capital Colombo on Tuesday, police said.

An officer who answered the phone at the police emergency centre said the blast was being investigated and that he had no further details.

Four people had been admitted with minor injuries at the main hospital in Colombo, a hospital official said.

The blast came as the Sri Lankan military intensified an offensive into the town of Kilinochchi, the headquarters of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam's (LTTE).

Local TV showed the main body of the bus was still intact despite the explosion, although the rear portion had been damaged

[September 16, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian]An explosion went off inside a bus at Horton Place Colombo 7 causing damages to the bus, Police said.

So far one person injured has been rushed to hospital.
