GENERAL ELECTIONS IN 3 MONTHS IN SRI LANKA?

Sri Lankan government says it is ready for a general election

Monday, August 25, 2008, 11:25 GMT News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Aug 25 Colombo : Sri Lankan government says if the main Opposition, United National Party (UNP) wants a general election, they are ready to hold it within the next three months.

At a press conference held in Colombo this morning Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said now the Sri Lankan government is in a good position to hold a general election.

“At the moment government has enough majority to win a general election,” the Minister said.

“It is clearly shown by the Saturday’s Provincial Council Election in North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces,” Alahapperuma added.

In Saturday’s provincial council election ruling party, United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) won all 27 electoral seats claiming a clear majority in both provinces.

However the main opposition, United National Party (UNP) said though they lost the election they manage to increase their votes.

“It is a great win for us under the election violations,” General Secretary of UNP, Tissa Attanayake said adding that pre-election violence had affected its campaign.

The Marxist People’s Liberation Front (JVP) who lost the Saturday’s provincial council election badly, pointed out that the results of the polls is not clearly shown the Sri Lankan public opinion.

Tamils For Justice sources say that this is simply a Rajapakse rhetoric and unless the SLFP is fearing any defeat due to defection of Members of Parliament with the likes of 2 Ministers resigning today, and the JVP refusing the support they have provided to the Rajapakses for 4 years, which is very unlikely the Parliament would not be dissolved again as done by President Chandrika Bandaranayake Kumaratunge in February 2004., when Ranil Wickramasinghe was the Prime Minister.

Colonel Karuna split from the LTTE in March 2004, with the help of the STF Police forces, and the military intelligence and President Kumaratunge was the Minister of Defense. Idiotic Tamils, and some Tamil websites still keep blaming the UNP for the LTTE split, including Sinhalese like Dr. Brian Seniviratne ( First cousin of President Kumaratunge and her sister Sunethra) and former Tamil Member of Parliament Eelaventhan.

Bruce Fein was introduced by Bavan Sriskandarajah of Toronto and Justice For Thamils/TEAG leader, to Eelaventhan in November 2007, in New Jersey at the Ilangai Tamil Sangam annual general meeting.

The current Minister at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Washington Ali Zahir Mowlana was appointed as Member of Parliament as a nominated MP on April 6, 2004, when Ranil Wickramasinghe was Leader of the Opposition. When Mowlana transported Karuna and his entourage to Colombo with the blessings of the STF Police forces and Military intelligence, as well as payments from Karuna who brought suitcases filled with currency, and RAW, Ranil Wickramasinghe forced Mowlana to resign immediately arond the 16th of April 2004.

Mahinda Rajapakse who was the then Prime Minister, and Lakshman Kadirgamar the foreign Minister assisted Mowlana to secure the visitors Visa for the entire Mowlana family (Melani Paiva) with the Sri Lankan embassy obtaining the assistance from the State Department. Confidential documents should be available both in the State Department and US embassy in Colombo, which would be readily accessible by the Department of Justice, FBI, ICE, and Homeland Security, during the current investigations.

During this period, Jo Becker of HRW and the AP photographer Julia Kumari Draper who took the notorious picture of child soldiers in LTTE uniform on April 10, 2004, were embedded with the Karuna forces while they were fighting for their lives against the LTTE. Those child soldiers picture both of them knew very well and are guilty of LYING to the whole world belonged to the Karuna group and not the LTTE.

It was a shameful and disgraceful act by HRW official Jo Becker, and both the women have never denied the accusation by the Tamils For Justice: Unfortunately No Tamil challenged Jo Becker on the photographs due to their ignorance and incompetence.
